| East Coulee was once a thriving coal mining town which
had a population of over 3000 people. Now all that remains are the echoes of the past and
about 200 residents. |

The East Coulee School Museum is a doorway
to an earlier time. It's historic atmosphere and creaking floors will transport you to the
fascinating past of this area. |
| The Museum built in 1930 still uses coal to heat the building,
burns an estimated 60 tons per year. |

A feature of the Museum is a 1930's classroom,
complete with desks, maps, blackboards and books.

Another room contains a full size Miner's house
with furnishings and many other items from life in the 1930's. |

There is a room dedicated to the miners with a
reconstructed Miners Shack, tools and photos as well as many artifacts from the era. |
Of interest to many visitors is the
Archives room, which contains the original library, Attendance Records, magazines and
hundreds of photos of the Miners, their families and cultural lives. |

There is a fossil collection
also available for viewing.

The Museum offers tours
and interpretive programs based on research of the 1930's and the peoples of this area.
These programs are excellent for school groups and clubs and can accommodate all ages. |
| While visiting the museum you can also
enjoy a coffee or lunch at the Tea Room and Cafe'. Group meals can be booked in advance. |
A gift shop is also located in the museum. |
