The Great West Coal Company opened the Star Mine in
1914. Both men and coal were slung across the river by a cable system |

In 1931, the company built a swinging bridge, similar to the present one, for the men who worked the mine. |
|
|
|
The slag heaps on the north side of the river are the only remains of the mining activity that once prevailed on this site

Visiting the Rosedale Suspension Bridge is an adventure. Walking across it can be unnerving for some as this footbridge, like it's predecesor does sway while crossing it.
