Rosedale Suspension Bridge

The Great West Coal Company opened the Star Mine in 1914. Both men and coal were slung across the river by a cable system

In 1931, the company built a swinging bridge, similar to the present one, for the men who worked the mine.

In 1992, Alberta Transportation did a major upgrade to the site, including the beautiful park, picnic tables, toilets and paved parking, that are available today.

The slag  heaps on the north side of the river are the only remains of the mining activity that once prevailed on this site

Visiting the Rosedale Suspension Bridge is an adventure. Walking across it can be unnerving for some as this footbridge, like it's predecesor does sway  while crossing it.
